The CGS Library, located at the Society's headquarters, contains more than 38,000 genealogical references. It is open Thursdays and Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and by appointment. Non-members are welcome for a $5 fee. The first Saturday of each month is free to all.

The Library catalog can be viewed online using the button above. At present, it does not contain all of our periodicals.

Computers, printers, scanners, and a copier are provided for patron use; personal laptops are welcome. The Library has wireless connections available for patrons. Lockers and a small lunch area are also available.

CGS subscribes to many genealogical web sites, including:

• Vital Search (California and Worldwide)

Familiar free sites are available also, including Familysearch.org, USGenweb, and Rootsweb. Together they offer files of census records, vital records, military records, naturalizations, scans of original documents and newspaper articles, and digitized books.
